Eagles football is back from Lincoln Financial Field!

After a two-game road stint, The Eagles are back at home looking to pick up their ninth straight victory.

Wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and cornerback Darius Slay (concussion) make their return to the lineup from injury. Smith missed the previous two games, while Slay missed last week’s against Baltimore.

Saquon Barkley came into the game needing 109 yards to break the Eagles’ single-season rushing record.Josh Allen’s heroics weren’t enough when Barkley would break the record on a 9-yard rush on his 17th carry of the game with 7:56 remaining in the contest.

“I think it’s pretty cool, the most important thing was getting a win, and we got the win. Being a fan of Shady (LeSean McCoy) growing up and seeing the spectacular things he was able to do with the ball in his hands and to be able to mentioned with him definitely means a lot,” Barkley said from his locker after the game. “Gotta give credit to the guys up front. They’ve made my job a lot easier so far this year. Hopefully, it will continue.”

The Eagles will be without tight end Dallas Goedert, who was placed on Injured Reserve with a knee injury. E.J. Jenkins was signed to the active roster and will join Grant Calcaterra and C.J. Uzomah. Safeties Reed Blankenship and Sydney Brown will be out. Safety Andre Sam was elevated and will make his NFL debut.

The Panthers enter the game at 3-9, coming off of a 26-23 overtime loss to the Buccaneers.

  • Gardner-Johnson was injured on the Panthers next drive after taking a hit to the helmet and went into the medical tent. He would be elevated for a concussion and listed as questionable to return. Avonte Maddox would come in for him. Gardner-Johnson would return with 11:41 left in the half.
  • SACK! Zack Baun got into the backfield and brought down Young on 3rd-and-7 for a loss of seven yards to force another Panthers punt.
  • After a 15-yard punt return that set them up at the Philadelphia 47, Carolina began to drive into Eagles’ territory. Young found Adam Thielen for a gain of 24 yards to get to the 23. The Panthers were stopped on 3rd down after a run from Chuba Hubbard. Eddy Pineiro knocked in a 38-yard field goal to open up the scoring. (Panthers 3 – Eagles 0)

Second Quarter

  • TOUCHDOWN! After a big third down conversion on a sideline pass to Smith, the Brotherly Shove worked again as Hurts pushed his way into the end zone to take the lead. (Eagles 7 – Panthers 3)
  • The Panthers got inside the 10-yard line after Young found David Moore for a gain of 19 to get to the 6. On 3rd-and-goal, Jalen Carter broke through the line and stopped Hubbard for a loss of two. The Panthers went for it on 4th-and-goal, and Young found Tommy Tremble for a 3-yard touchdown pass with four minutes remaining. (Panthers 10 – Eagles 7)
  • INTERCEPTION! Young overthrew Thielen and Gardner-Johnson came in to intercept it, returning the ball to the Carolina 44 for a gain of 15 yards.
  • “That’s a physical team for everybody. For everybody who wants to know, that was one of those games where you can’t underestimate those type of teams. Bryce (Young) is great quarterback, great team. Adam’s (Thielen) out there competing. They played great on that side, it’s all about our details and fundamentals going out there and finishing the game,” Gardner-Johnson said.
  • TOUCHDOWN! Hurts found Smith in the left corner of the end zone for a 4-yard touchdown pass to give the Eagles the lead back with 14 seconds remaining in the half. (Eagles 14 – Panthers 10)
  • “At the end of the day, we have to go out there and make the most of our opportunities and make the play,” Smith said.

Third Quarter

  • Jake Elliott missed a 52-yard field goal to the right to keep it a four-point game out of the half. Barkley had four carries for 30 yards on the drive, putting him just 30 yards away from the single-season record.
  • The Panthers once again got into Eagles’ territory on the first drive of the half, getting to the 17-yard line before a Carter tipped pass fell into the hands of Thielen on 4th-and-2 at the 5.
  • Hubbard ran right into the end zone for a one-yard touchdown run to give Carolina the lead back with 2:49 remaining in the quarter. Pineiro missed the extra point. (Panthers 16 – Eagles 14)
  • After a 35-yard run from Hurts, the Eagles got to the Panthers’ 9-yard line to close out the quarter.

Fourth Quarter

  • TOUCHDOWN! Hurts found Calcaterra for a 4-yard touchdown catch to regain the lead. It was the first of his NFL career for Calcaterra. After an offsides penalty on Carolina, the Eagles went for the two-point conversion and converted on a run with Barkley. (Eagles 22 – Panthers 16)
  • Gardner-Johnson went down again and had to go into the medical tent. He was able to walk off the field on his own after being down for a few minutes. He would return with 2:58 remaining.
  • “We want to win and play hard for our guys. I think just going out there and showing them that I still have it in me regardless of how I’m feeling, it feeds off of everybody else,” Gardner-Johnson said.
  • Barkley officially broke the Eagles’ single-season rushing record after a 9-yard rush with 7:56 remaining in the game.
  • Special teams came through for Philadelphia as Braden Mann’s punt was downed at the Carolina 2-yard line by Maddox with 2:58 to go.
  • The Panthers were down to their last hope on 3rd-and-7 with 1:23 remaining when Young found Thielen for a 13-yard gain to get to the Philadelphia 38. With 57 seconds left, Young had Legette open for a wide open touchdown, but the receiver couldn’t hang on and dropped it as he went to the ground.
  • On 4th-and-9, Young’s pass was broken up by Slay to put the game away. (Eagles 22 – Panthers 16)
  • “We’re about playing ball, we’re in it. We’ve been playing great defense. We should have played a lot better, but, but at the day, we do want that pressure,” Slay said.
